In one of the core programmes of the Winrock International Nigeria, in conjunction with USAID, a remarkable capacity-building workshop has just been held for staff and members of management of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora. The event took place between Tuesday April 26, 2022 to Thursday April 29, 2022.
The country director of Winrock International, Mr. Mike Bassey, while addressing the host institution in a pre-workshop meeting held via zoom, said that the mandate of Winrock international is to deliver a partnership programme to add value to existing programmes of the beneficiary organizations and institutions, thereby promoting quality service delivery.
In his own words at the opening ceremony of the workshop, the Rector of the host institution, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle, appreciaited Winrock for considering OYSCATECH as another viable Institution for this type of project. He noted with joy that Winrock has had similar training in the College previously and encouraged his staff to take good opportunity of this rare training on capacity building. He welcomed the trainers, Prof Onesimus. Otieno from USA, the international volunteer and Dr. Kehinde Emmanuel Adenegan from Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo as the national volunteer. While also welcoming Mr. Temitayo Bamidele, Winrock International representative, he expressed satisfaction in what he has seen put into the preparation and opined that the training is going to be worthwhile.
Prof. Otieno, the international volunteer led the training virtually, through the Zoom platform while Dr. Adenegan was on ground to personally facilitate the workshop. Areas covered in the training included zoom usage, google suite, quizlet, whatsapp usage, linkage of mobile devices with PCs and the like. All these focal points were geared towards enabling staff service delivery on blended learning as well as effective e-administration.
Staff trained included the Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and other administrative offices. The Deputy Rector of the Institution, Dr. Mrs. Taiwo Akinyemi led the participants in the 3-day intensive training which was very participatory and interactive. The Institution MIS and PR units facilitated the smooth delivery of the training at the venue. At the end of the of the workshop, the organizers, Winrock , through Mr. Temitayo Bamidele enjoined the College to ensure to make good use of the knowledge imparted into them. This was corroborated by the training volunteers, Prof. Otieno and Dr. Adenegan, that the resultant effects of the training will be their joy afterwards.
