The hidden secret behind Owo’s top JAMB students unveiled!
When it comes to academic excellence in Owo Local Government, the buzz isn’t just about luck or natural talent — it’s about a bold, game-changing move by a family that’s rewriting the story of education in the region. The question is: what’s their secret? And trust us, it’s more inspiring than you might think.
Meet the Falaye family — a name now etched in the hearts of Owo’s brightest minds. Between April 2024 and February 2025, this influential family, led by the visionary Dr. Foluso Falaye and Engr. Bankole Falaye, who launched a revolutionary initiative that’s transforming the landscape of education: the Falaye Science and Mathematics Olympiad (FSMO).
Imagine a competition where every school in Owo competes fiercely, and the top 20 students are selected for a rigorous 6-month coaching marathon — with cash prizes soaring up to N150,000, N120,000, and N100,000 for the winners, plus giant trophies for their schools, beside the N25,000 collected by other 7 runner ups. But that’s just the beginning. The real magic lies in what followed.
For the purpose of the 6 months intensive coaching, 6 science subjects including English were the points of focus according to the desire of the visioner under the coordination of the FSMO Anchor man, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan who was the pilot that ran the FSMO vision for Dr. Falaye, while Mr. Adedamola Adeyeri was the coaching centre supervisor. Notable teachers who taught at the coaching centre includes Mr. Pojo (Phy), Mrs. Odeyemi (Bio) , Mr. Ogunleye (Comp) , Mr. Rasheed (Eng) , Mr. Mohammed (Maths) and Mr. Ogunbowo (Chem).
Over N20 million was poured into textbooks for all 33 participating schools, covering subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Computer Science. Teachers received monthly stipends of N48,000, while students earned N20,000 each month for their dedication. Dr. Falaye also paid for the JAMB forms for the candidates including payment for JAMB Mock examination to really prepare them for the tasks ahead. This wasn’t just a coaching program — it was a full-scale educational revolution, meticulously coordinated by a top Owo-born mathematician and IT expert, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan.
And the results? Simply astonishing. The crown jewel, Oluwasegun Precious, scored an incredible 346 in JAMB — with near-perfect scores in Math 98% and Physics 98%. He’s not alone; Adejuyigbe and Odewale Philip also have remarkable results, (345 & 337) proving that the Falaye’s investment is paying off. The list of the scores is unending! All had great scores qualifying them for their desired courses in the tertiary institutions.
The joy and pride among parents are palpable — they flooded the FSMO platforms with blessings and prayers, thanking the Falaye family and the dedicated team that believed in nurturing Owo’s future leaders.
So, what’s next? Experts believe that more politicians, philanthropists, and well-meaning individuals should join forces with the Falaye family to elevate Owo’s academic excellence even further. Because if this is what’s possible in just one year, the future looks brighter than ever.
In essence, the secret behind Owo’s top JAMB students isn’t just talent — it’s a bold, strategic investment in education by a family with a vision. And this is just the beginning of a new era of greatness. Let's have more of Owo and Nigerian philantropists and politicians to support this kind of educational investment.
