Babalola Solves marriage equation, integrates Adekanye to become One
Ondo Agog as Adetoyosi Adekanye, Samuel Babalola Tie the Knot in Colourful Union!
It was a marriage of kingdoms, culture, and Christ as love took center stage on Saturday May 2nd 2026 at the Church of the Messiah Anglican Communion, Sabo, Ondo, where Miss Adetoyosi Adekanye of the Ondo Kingdom and Mr. Samuel Babalola of Ikale Kingdom exchanged marital vows and were pronounced husband and wife.
The solemnization, which drew dignitaries, clergy, family, and well-wishers from across Ondo State and beyond, was officiated by the Vicar, Ven. Dr. Johnson Ojewumi, who led the couple through the sacred covenant of holy matrimony. In a sermon that resonated with both wit and wisdom, Ven. Dr. Taye Akintade charged the couple to build their home on Christ, describing marriage as “God’s own mathematics where one plus one equals one.” He urged Samuel to “solve the marriage equation daily with patience, love, and understanding, as well as be ready to provide for his family needs in the marriage reality” as he integrates Adetoyosi into his life to become one flesh. Ven. Akintade advised the new couple against divorce but encourage them to base their marriage on God's standard as he wished them a blissful home.
The service was rich with worship and celebration. The vicar of the church, Rev. Omotayo Ojo, extolled the virtues of the bride. The Children Sunday School set the tone with a delightful special number that drew warm applause, while the Church Choir rendered soul-lifting anthems that filled the historic church building. The Mothers’ Union also honoured the couple with a special presentation, praying for fruitfulness and peace in their home.
Adetoyosi, daughter of the Adekanye family of Ondo Kingdom, was radiant in a beaded white flowing gown with traditional Ondo embroidery accents during engagement paying homage to her royal heritage. Samuel, son of the Babalola family of Ikale Kingdom, looked dapper in a tailored navy suit in the church, and complemented in the engagement by Ikale cultural touches, symbolizing the beautiful fusion of the two proud Yoruba kingdoms.
The joyous train moved to Zenco Event Centre, Ondo, for a grand reception. The hall, elegantly adorned in shades of emerald green and blue — the couple’s chosen colours — welcomed guests to an afternoon of music, feasting, and heartfelt tributes. The Master of Ceremony kept the audience in stitches while couples, friends, and families testified to the humility and love shared by the new Mr. & Mrs. Babalola.
In their vote of thanks, the couple expressed gratitude to God, the clergy, parents, and all guests. “Today, two kingdoms became one family,” Samuel said, as Adetoyosi added, “We are grateful for the love that brought us here and the prayers that will keep us.”
Dignitaries present included traditional chiefs from Ondo and Ikale, the couple's parents and family, members of the academia, clergy from Ondo Diocese, and associates from both families. The event was covered by the popular ORC Studio and AGES in Ondo.
With vows exchanged and rings sealed, Samuel Babalola has indeed solved the marriage equation, integrating Adetoyosi Adekanye into a new life of oneness. Ondo celebrates, Ikale rejoices, and love wins. Adekanye + Babalola = 1!
