Fred Olaniyi Akinjagunla sleeps on in glory
The burial of Pa Fredrick Omosola Olaniyi Akinjagunla (75), an Ondo-born revered Septagenarian, took place on April 16th and 17th, 2026 in Ondo city. The solemn occasion drew together family, friends, and community leaders to pay their last respects to a life well-lived.
On Thursday, April 16 2026, a wake-keep was held at his Ondo Palmgroove residence, where friends and family gathered to share memories and pay tribute to the deceased loving father. The wake-keep was a poignant reminder of the impact Pa Olaniyi had on those who knew him.
The funeral service, was held the second day, officiated by well meaning CAC Pastors. In the tributes given, "His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and we take comfort in the memories we shared with him.", echoed Pa Olaniyi's younger sister
The CAC Pastors who conducted both the wake keep and funeral services also drew inspiration from the scriptures, highlighting that this life is temporal. "We must all be conscious of the fact that we cannot live forever," Pastor Dr. Olowo quoted.
Following the funeral service, the remains of Pa Olaniyi Akinjagunla was laid to rest at his Palmgroove residence. A reception was later held at the popular Lande Event Center in Ondo City, where friends and family gathered to share joyful moments, memories, stories and celebarate baba's life. Guests were treated to assorted drinks and foods with classic treatments.
The funeral was just another one in town and a talk of the town where guests were given various gifts and treated to assorted meals and drinks as the deceased children celebrated the glorious exit of their father in grand style.
The children took turns to "exchange their feet" on the dancing floor to melodious music provided by a classical band brought to the Lande event hall. The children and inlaws also paid special tributes to their late father. These include: Mr. Wale Olaniyi, Dotun Olaniyi, Foluke Olaniyi, and others as well as many of the grandchildren.
Throughout the funeral proceedings, the Palmgroove community came together to bid farewell to a beloved leader and friend. My Father's legacy will be remembered for generations to come, and his impact on the lives of those who knew him will never be forgotten", asserted by Foluke Ademola (nee Olaniyi) while giving her tributes at the wake keep.
Meanwhile, AGES correspondence spoke with few guests at the occasion among whom were Dr. Anthony Bernard, a versatile Don at Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo. In the words of Dr. Bernard, he described the event as a remarkable one which every child will desire to have such a befitting exit program for their aged ones when they go to the world beyond. He lauded the concerted efforts of the children of Pa Omosola Olaniyi Akinjagunla for organizing such epoch making funeral for their father.
