Adeyemi College of Technology Holds AI Training, Gives Wake-Up Call to Potential Users


Adeyemi College of Technology (ACT) Ondo recently hosted a comprehensive AI training program on Wednesday June 26, 2024, drawing a diverse crowd of potential users from various sectors.

The event kicked off with a welcome speech by Dr. Michael Segun Olajide (ACT, Deputy Rector), setting the tone for a day filled with insightful sessions and practical learning.

Dr. Kehinde Adenegan (ACT Rector) delivered an engaging introduction to AI and its general applications, laying the groundwork for the day's proceedings. His session served as appetizers for the amazing  world of Artificial Intelligence.

Prof. Taiwo Samuel Adenegan, the Director of Academic Planning at the Achievers University Owo and Chairman of the Counseling Association of Nigeria Ondo State, explored the transformative potential of AI in education and administration, highlighting its capabilities and benefits.

The program also featured a session on leveraging AI for research, covering AI-based research methodologies and tools, as well as the application of AI in literature review and enhanced research outcomes. This was essentially and remarkably handled by Mr. Mosobalaje Akinola Opeoluwa of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo. Mosobalaje, a web developer and IT consultant used his wealth of experience to open the eyes of participants to what AI can offer in terms of research.

Additionally, attendees learned about Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) tools and their practical applications. Mr. Folahan Olaniyi Olukayode of the Department of Educational Technology in Adeyemi Federal University of Education, (AFUED) Ondo. Mention was made to Gencraft, Video AI, In video, Band lab, Voice AI, chatGPT and the like as per of GAI tools.

The diverse group of attendees included members of university and college management, academics, clerics, bankers, primary and secondary school teachers, members from industries and NGOs, Local Government Ministry, Factory representatives, and students.


Among these participants were Dr. Olufemi Olajuyigbe, the chairman Transition committee of AFUED, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, AFUED Registrar, Dr. Ekundayo Ogunmosin, Medical Director, Dr. Ade Adepoju, COEASU Chairman, Dr. A. I. Abimbola, Mr. Charles Akinbinu (Microfinance Bank), Gbemisola Ajayi (LG Accountant), Dr. Anthonia Loto, Dr. Oyenike Oyinloye, Tunde Ojeyinka (Ibadan Coordinator of Schools Proprietors), Ogunsakin Tosin (Globacomm Ltd), Adebisi Mary (Cooperative Manager), Mr. Akinbinu Raphael (La Salle College Principal), Rev. Eburuike Emmanuel who led the team of clergy and lay representatives from Ondo Diocese, and host of others.

The AI training program served as a wake-up call to potential users, showcasing the vast possibilities AI offers and encouraging its adoption in various fields. Adeyemi College of Technology's initiative paves the way for future AI development and integration in different sectors.

In his vote of thanks and closing remarks, the registrar of the college, Mr Robert Oluwamayokun Akinkuoye, appreciated all participants for their active participation and patience. He introduced them to the programs run by the Adeyemi College of Technology and  readily informed them that the admission is open to all and sundry.
