Science & Mathematics Olympiad begins in Owo LGA

 

In a quest to promote academic excellence in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, an Òwò-born Dr Foluso Bamidele Falaye, a philanthropist and an highly inclined academic giant, has taken a giant stride to initiate a Science and Mathematics Olympiad for students in secondary schools, begining with the senior category. The Olympiad is tagged FSMO which is going to be an annual event.

Organizing a Science and Mathematics Olympiad for secondary schools in Owo Local Government is a commendable initiative that can significantly impact the educational landscape of the region. Science and Mathematics Olympiad  is renowned for promoting interest and excellence in the Sciences and Mathematics among students, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and nurturing future mathematicians and scientists. The Science and Mathematics Olympiad is an academic competition that tests students’ scientific and mathematical skills, knowledge, and problem-solving abilities.

In a radio broadcast, AGCS announced thus: "Falaye Science and Mathematics Olympiad (FSMO 2024)* This is to invite all secondary schools in Owo local govt area to participate in the Ogbonge Annual Science and Mathematics Olympiad, sponsored and organized by Dr. Foluso Falaye.

Two participants per school from the senior category are to register. Registration opens on April 29 and ends May 18, 2024 as competition begins May 28 to end June 14 with the prize giving day at Owo High School Owo. The timetable herein presented is to be followed for strict compliance by participating secondary schools. June 14 2024 will be the price giving day where winners who scored minimum of 70% will receive prizes and awards for themselves and for their various schools. Parents, teachers and school authorities are hereby enjoined to allow their students to effectively participate in this academic enriching program to lift the banner of academic excellence in Owo local government area. Ipele-Owo attack: cleric allays Nigerians fear as worshippers desert churches on January 1

A cleric, Ven. Dr. Olatunde Abiodun, has urged Nigerians to remain calm and not be intimidated by recent attacks nor purported fearful actions around, including the Ipele-Owo incident, where gunmen attacked a police station on New Year's Eve causing the popular crossover night to be abruptly brought to an end in many churches within and around Owo, resulting in a great panic, fear and unimaginable tension in the ancient town and its environs. The attack, which occurred around 9:41 pm., resulted in the destruction of the police station, but fortunately, no lives were lost.
