Take service above self, Rotarian advises Tinubu

A Rotarian and a University Don, Pro. Wahab Oyedele Owolawi has handed over an advice to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) to take service above self in his quest to deliver his promise of renewed hope.

At  a special lecture, titled "building a true friendship", delivered by the renowned Professor of audiology and vestibular disorders as a guest lecturer during the investiture of Rotn. Princess Taiwo Abiola Olaitan of the Rotary Club of Ondo-Adeyemi College held at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo on 16th September, 2023, Owolawi reiterated, "service is life and life is service".


Owolawi uttered these statements while feeding questions from the audience after his lecture. "Suppose Prof, you have the opportunity to meet with Mr. President as a Rotarian based on your lecture today, what advice will you give to him in not more than two sentences if asked to address him?", Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, the founder of AGES asked Prof. Owolawi.
After his lecture, he was given a certificate of appreciation by the club which was presented by Rot. Alaba Quadri a.k.a Alabama, from Rotary Club of Ilorin. 


"For President Tinubu to succeed in office, he must strive to take service far above self and learn from previous leaders like Mandela and the like whose marks remain indelible in the history of the world", Owolawi relayed.

In the event, the new President, Olaitan Taiwo Abiola, performed her first constitutional right by inducting a new member, Bankole Adeboyeku into rotary. Bankole was admonished to be a true Rotarian and imbibe the four-way test in the discharge of his daily works. 

Equally, prestigious members of the RC Ondo-Adeyemi College, Rotn Tunde Ojeyinka and Rotn. Dr. Mopelola Akintoye were celebrated by the club by respectively presented certificate of recognition by IPP Fakorede Olufisayo Olukemi PHF and Rotn. Dr. Tope Oziegbe, the President elect of the club. 

The event was attended by "who is who" in the society among whom were Chief Barrister Sola Ebiseni who was the chairman of the occasion, Oba John Adegbite Makanjuola, Oyelusi III, the Elekusa of Ekusa Odo Otin who was represented by Prince Adekanle Makanjuola, the brother of the inducted President, Princess Taiwo Abiola Olaitan. Others were, the immediate past Surveyor General of Ondo State, Rot Surv Semiyu Adigun, who doubles as the President of Presidents of Rotary in Ondo State, Dr. Olufemi Olajuyigbe, the father of the day who was represented by Dr. Rafiu Sanni (Dean School of Sciences, AFUED), Rotn. Olukemi Fakorede PHF (Immediate past president of the club), Rotn. Babatunde Apata, and Chief Folu Bademosi "Asodedero" who was one of the awardees at the occasion.


Equally present were, Rotn. Dr. Samuel Akintunde, the Provost of Adeyemi, PAG Dr. Kevin Meyeyin, a significant major donor and award recipient, Dr. Ibukunoluwa Johnson and Comrade Elder Adewole Olasan of the Health center, Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo, who were all award recipients of the day

Nigerians drum support for Adenegan's 7-point agenda for 2026

Ipele-Owo attack: cleric allays Nigerians fear as worshippers desert churches on January 1

A cleric, Ven. Dr. Olatunde Abiodun, has urged Nigerians to remain calm and not be intimidated by recent attacks nor purported fearful actions around, including the Ipele-Owo incident, where gunmen attacked a police station on New Year's Eve causing the popular crossover night to be abruptly brought to an end in many churches within and around Owo, resulting in a great panic, fear and unimaginable tension in the ancient town and its environs.
