Oni dedicates ICT Centre in Ondo
Another milestone recorded by the episcopacy of the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Ondo is the establishment of a standard ICT Centre, courtesy of the (NCC) Nigerian Communications Commission that donated 40 complete computer systems with a laptop and full networking of the centre. The centre was dedicated in a grand style by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Adeniran Oni at the Diocesan Comprehensive College, Ondo. The centre was well networked by ICT Connect, one of the leading IT companies in Nigeria.
The dedication ceremony took place on Tuesday April 4, 2023 which was witnessed by Revd. Adewole, the Principal of the College and the Board of Governors of the Diocesan International comprehensive College along side with the Diocesan dignitaries and the students of the College.
While addressing the audience at the occasion, the Lord Bishop of the Diocese appreciated the goodness of God and the special favour received by the school through the NCC for the laudable project. He however did not fail to acknowledge an illustrious son of the Ondo Kingdom and a parishioner of the Cathedral church, Mr. Tunde Akinrinmade, whose concerted efforts resulted into what the Diocese have today.
In his address, the Chairman, Board of Governors, Mr. Steve Awosika, a retired permanent secretary in the Ondo State Ministry of Education, appreciated God Almighty for the new centre. "This is a special gift from God in the episcopacy of the Lord Bishop. Thank you My Lord for the opportunity granted me to be the one to cut the ribbons to open this centre", Awosika acknowledged. He further encouraged the school to make good use of the centre to the glory of God and to the benefits of mankind. After his speech, he gloriously cut the ribbon to get the centre opened while the Lord Bishop dedicated the place for the use of God and mankind.
Meanwhile, the founder of AGES, a subsidiary of AGCS, who is also the Rector of the newly established College of Technology in ondo, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, was given the opportunity to unveil the computer systems and give a brief outline of the usage of the ICT centre with the view of explaining some concepts using the installed projector and instructor facilities.
In a chat with one of the attendees, Ven. Daniel Ope Akintemi categorically remarked to AGES that this is a great asset for the Diocese and for the college. Others showed appreciation to God for the wonderful achievement and a new thing in the history of the Diocese.
The occasion was graced by the dignitaries in the Diocese led by the Dean of the cathedral, Ven. Solomon Adeleye. Some selected students of the school were in attendance and were also given the privilege to be seated to receive the first training at the centre
While ending the dedication ceremony, the Bishop took the opportunity to celebrate and pray for one of the College teachers, Mrs. Agbara, a computer teacher in the school who turned 50 on that very day
