The family is one of the problems in Nigeria!

"The family is one of the problems in Nigeria!" This statement is credited to a University Don, Family therapist, and counseling psychologist; Prof. Taiwo Adenegan, a Lecturer at the Achievers University Owo while addressing the school of discipleship at Saints of Praise Cathedral Akure over the weekend.

Speaking on the topic, "raising a godly generation through the family", the astute administrator and motivational speaker, Taiwo Adenegan encouraged the family to stand up to its responsibilities in the society today as moral decadence is the order of the day. Many societal problems are traceable to individuals in the family and if not carefully solved, it escalates to the society macrocosm.
Taiwo Adenegan remarked that the family is an important agent of socialization. The country is faced with great challenges today which the church needs to step into. The teachings from the church should influence the family to be able to be a great agent of change in the country. The citizens are somehow disturbed often to ask if really their leaders do care about them.
Taiwo further referred to Finland whose country's police have less work to do in the street unlike ours where our policemen are made to work seriously in the sun with less motivation. Such countries give attention to family so that once that social agent of socialization is focused, the better the country. He remarked on the job sytem in Nigeria where many married couples do not stay together due to working distance. Parent connectedness is a key to raising a godly generation.

The level of ungodliness is high worldwide. The family has much and conscious tasks to do to make things work in this nation, Prof Adenegan concluded. If earthly gods are looking for unblemished animals, human beings such as virgins to maintain annual rituals, how much more is our God who is holy will desire a living sacrifice for himself.

As a closing remark, Prof. Adenegan challenged the youths in the church not to forget their source when they grow up and are working beyond the territory of their city so that God can bless them the more.
Meanwhile, a renown Mathematician, Financial expert and ICT technocrat, who also is the Twin brother of the first speaker, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan was also invited as a guest speaker at the event.
Delivering his talk on "key to greatness", Dr. Kehinde Adenegan remarked that greatness has a major key which is "humility and service". "Humility in service opens doors to greatness for mankind provided one is able to this from the onset", Kehinde Adenegan explained! He gave analogy to the main door leading to a mansion which has other doors with various keys which the house owner does not need to carry about once the main door is securely held.
Speaking further, Kehinde highlighted steps to obtaining the key to greatness. These include among others, preparedness for greatness, creating clear vision and greatness mindset, praying, self determination, selflessness, and consistence.
He concluded his motivational teaching at the school of discipleship by charging the participants not to sleep when others are marching in the field of greatness as greatness is not attained by one's size or height
In his welcome address, the Pastor in charge, Pastor Kola Praiseworth enjoined members of his congratulation to take full advantage of the school of discipleship to learn new things from the great minds invited as guest speakers.
Speaking further in his address, Pastor Kola said, "this is not the usual sermon am expected to preach for a long time charging you but yiu are free to ask questions and be fully prepared to learn".

Participants at the event did not hide their feelings about the event. Mr. Bamidele Adebayo, an Akure resident and an entrepreneur, interviewed by AGES correspondence remarked, "80% of what has been said here today affects my personal life and I have been deeply touched to live by the teachings to attain greatness in life!"

In his own words, a senior pastor in Saints of Praise, Pastor Folorunso beat the drum for more attention by the government for the family and the need for family to be at its best in solving societal problems.
Meanwhile, Pastor Mrs. Folorunso who was also in attendance expressed her heartfelt joy to be part of the programme. She enjoined parents alike to take family matters very seriously and teach their children the way of God.
In attendance were many of the church elders among whom were Elder Femi Raheem, children teachers, Sunday school teachers and youth leaders. Equally, the family of the guest speakers were also present to grace the occasion.
Giving the concluding remarks, Pastor Mrs. Kola-Praiseworth challenged the youths and other participants to key into the teachings to be able to lead successful lives. She thanked the cathedral members for coming in their numbers for the school of discipleship.
