RC Ondo-Adeyemi College tackles RC Ondo

In preparation for the visit of the Rotary District Governor to Ondo State, novelty matches were played among Rotary clubs in the state over the weekend. Rotary club of Ondo-Adeyemi College tackled Rotary club of Ondo but suffered a defeat in the hand of the timber club at a match decided in the eve of Sunday 18th September, 2022.

The match, which was played at the Ondo City stadium, ended 4-2 in favour of the Rotary club of Ondo. At the end of the first half, the match ended 3-1 with a lead from Rotary club of Ondo.

Not quite five minutes of match play that the first and second goals were scored by Rot.  Akinkuotu. Shortly, a young player, Confidence Adenegan from the Rotary club of Ondo-Adeyemi College was brought down by Rot. Akinkuotu and a penalty was so awarded. The penalty kick was taken by Rot. Kehinde Adenegan to put the score line at 2-1 for the club.

However, luck ran out for RC Ondo-Adeyemi College when Rot. Jerry scored another goal for RC Ondo, just a minute to the end of the first half. The first half thus ended 3-1. RC Ondo Adeyemi College goal keeper and defenders, Rot. Taiwo Olaitan, Rot. Lizzy Okoroafor and Rot. Josephine Adenegan were substituted in the second half while Rot. Agbede came in as substitute for RC Ondo.

The second half was very fierce as RC Ondo-Adeyemi College came in stronger. Despite their efforts with defenders Rot. Ope Adeniyi, Rot. Olatuyi and striker Rot. David Komolafe only a goal was scored as the leading goal from Rot. Gbenga for RC Ondo came in overwhelmingly as the substituted goal keeper could not resist the shot. 

With heavy players like Rot. Bode, Rot. Siji Adeoye, Rot. Ruphina, Rot. Patrick and the like, RC Ondo-Adeyemi College defence was damaged and the educational-centred club could not equalize beyond 4-2 as the match ended and spelt victory for RC Ondo.

The match was watched live by the like of Rot. Sir. Ayo Akingbule, Rot. Mayokun Akinkuoye, Rot. Bose Olanusi, Rot. Akinniyi and host of others. It was indeed a match filled with fun and remarkable event as both rotaractors and interactors were in the pitch to catch fun and watch their parents play the novelty match. RC Ondo will later lock horns with RC Akure.

Ipele-Owo attack: cleric allays Nigerians fear as worshippers desert churches on January 1

A cleric, Ven. Dr. Olatunde Abiodun, has urged Nigerians to remain calm and not be intimidated by recent attacks nor purported fearful actions around, including the Ipele-Owo incident, where gunmen attacked a police station on New Year's Eve causing the popular crossover night to be abruptly brought to an end in many churches within and around Owo, resulting in a great panic, fear and unimaginable tension in the ancient town and its environs.
