Nigerian leaders are not humble enough to accept their mistakes! Bankole blows hot as Ondo Diocese holds trinity ordination
Nigerian leaders are not humble enough to accept their mistakes! This is a statement credited to the Very Revd Francis Olanrewaju Bankole, the Dean of the Emmanuel Cathedral of Ekiti Anglican Diocese as he blew hot on the pulpit while delivering a sermon at the trinity ordination of the Diocese of Ondo, held at the Cathedral Church of St. Stephen, Oke Aluko on Sunday 10th June, 2022.
At a service presided over by His Lordship, the Rt. Revd. Dr. Stephen Adeniran Oni, the guest preacher delivered his sermon on the topic, "abiding in Christ". He reiterated five conditions for abiding in Christ. He remarked humility as one of the virtues which he noted is a feature far from the qualities of our leaders in Nigeria to be so humble to accept their mistakes so that the nation can move forward.
In what was described as a courageous move was the time the Lord Bishop of Ondo Diocese, the Rt. Red. Dr.. Adeniran Oni filed out the ordinands to be ordained and priests to be fully priested, and asked the congregation to own up if there is any tangible reason for any 9f those individuals to be ordained into priesthood. Oni cautioned the newly ordained priests to be mindful of their calling and act in accordance with the scriptures. He further lamented that Ondo Diocese has zero tolerance for gay. "The Diocese it's ready to show such people out if the ministry, Bishop Oni maintained .
Nineteen able and dynamic young men from the combined Dioceses of Ondo and Ekiti were ordained at the service which was graced by a very large number of worshippers drawn from the two Dioceses. It would be recalled that Bishop Oni has been the supervising Bishop of Ekiti Diocese since the retirement of the immediate past Archbishop of Ondo Province and the Bishop of Ekiti Diocese.
Those ordained as Deacons were Samuel AyoOluwa Adisa , Opeyemi David Bamikefa , Lucas Adeboye Temidoro , Olawuyi Kehinde Oyedeji , Oyetunde Mathew Oyetola , Olumide Oluwashina Oluwasimide, Babawale Femi Oyerinde , Olubowale Pius Odubekun , Temitope James Akinyemi, and Owolabi Omotuyi. According to the constitution of the church of Nigeria, the newly ordained Deacons and priests took turns to sign the oath of allegiance before Justice Taiwo Obayemi Taiwo and Barrister Yejide Ogundipe. The congregation was treated to melodious songs and inspiring melodies by the cathedral choristers who sang with their sonorous voices.
The service was well attended by the who is who in the Anglican Diocese if Ondo and also by priests from the Diocese of Ekiti.
