Ondo diocese dedicates new international school

In a glorious ceremony held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, the Ondo Diocese dedicated a new international school, Joan Day Nursery and Primary School. The dedication was anchored by the Lord Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Adeniran Oni. The new school, with modern facilities for qualitative education, is strategically located at Ondo-Ife road, directly opposite St. Joseph College (SJC) Ondo, and shares the same grounds as the Diocese Bishop's court. Johnson Olaniyi celebrates 70th birthday in style

Family, friends, and well-wishers gathered at the Ondo residence of Mr. Johnson Oluwafiropo Olaniyi, a one-time regional Manager in the Dangote cement industry, to celebrate his 70th birthday in a joyous and memorable ceremony. The day's low-key festivities began as early as 6:00 am with the melodious sounds of drummers, setting the tone for a celebratory atmosphere. The children of the birthday celebrant (Seun, Tope, Tosin and Omoniyi) presented him with a beautifully decorated cake, surrounded by family members who offered prayers and well-wishes for his good health and longevity. The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in collaboration with Yoruba Mathematics Class on YouTube, successfully held a 2-day training on teaching mathematics using Yoruba indigenous language and early grade Mathematics. Falayes donate million naira textbooks to schools in Owo LGA

In a significant boost to education in Owo, renowned philanthropist and education advocate, Dr. Foluso Falaye and the Falaye's family have donated sets of textbooks to 23 secondary schools participating in the Falaye Science and Mathematics Olympiad ( FSMO ) program. During the FSMO trophies and awards presentation in July 2024, Dr. Falaye had pledged to provide the necessary educational resources to enhance the learning experience for students in Owo. True to his word, the donation of thousands of textbooks covering Mathematics, English, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and ICT has been fulfilled. The distribution was done on behalf of the Falayes by Mr. Adedamola Adeyeri, the FSMO Coaching supervisor, to 23 beneficiary schools, including public and private schools. These schools,  identified as part of the FSMO program, expressed gratitude for the generous donation. Nigeria education age limit: a setback to national development and discoveries

The recent policy by the Nigerian Minister of Education, imposing an age limit of 18 years for writing WAEC and JAMB exams has been described as a regressive move that stifles national development and discoveries. This position was made by the Author of the Tale of Hexagon City , an IT Guru and a University Don, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan while sharing his opinions with AGES correspondence. "This arbitrary restriction denies gifted and exceptional students the opportunity to excel academically, hindering Nigeria's progress in an era of technological advancement", Adenegan posited.
