Hallmark wins Simbiat Adeyeye final quiz competition
The annual memorial anniversary of Chief Mrs Stella Olufunke Simbiat Adeyeye (nee Akinfolarin) did not come unnoticed this year. It was spiced with another unique event, a quiz competition. Over the years, it has been football competition among others, but this year has the series of quiz competition previously conducted for some selected schools in Ondo local government area. However, four schools emerged for the final competition. This event was used to commemorate the 20th memorial anniversary off late Chief Mrs Stella Adeyeye.
Hallmark secondary School, Saint Joseph College, Saint Monicas and Saint Louis Girls Grammar school made the final competition. The competition was keenly contested and eventually Hallmark secondary school emerged winner. After five rounds of different subjects ranging from English language, Mathematics Physics, Biology, chemistry and current affairs inclusive. Hallmark secondary School emerged winner with 35 points.
While announcing the winner, the quiz conductor, who is a renowned Ondo-born erudite scholar, dynamic lecturer and a Dean of the School of Vocational and Technical Education in Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, Dr. Mrs Bridget Itunu Awosika, remarked "in competition like this, definitely a school must emerge and the joy of participation should always be there and rather not who takes the lead. You have all done well and you are all winners in any case. Hence, rejoice that you are taking part in this great competition".
Meanwhile, Dr. Awosika was assisted by by other members of panel of Justice during the contested quiz competition. These included Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, Dr. Mrs. Abiodun Ogunmosi, Mr. Lasekan, and Mr. Frank. The students expressed satisfaction in the process and appreciated the families of Adeyeye for inviting their schools for the competition.
Presenting the gifts (N200,000 cash price and a set of Computer system) to the first position Hallmark secondary School, Dr. Deji Adeyeye congratulated Hallmark and equally appreciated all the schools and wished them success in their future endeavours. Others invited to present gifts in succession were. Prof.. Mrs. Olufunke Adeyeye who presented the sum of N150,000 cash gift to St. Joseph, , Mrs. Josephine Adeyeye presented N100,000 cash gift to the 3rd position, St. Louis while Engr Philips from Manchester, UK presented the cash gift of N50,000 as consolation price to St. Monica's Girls Grammar school.
In his words, Otunba Bola Adeyeye said that he appreciates all the schools that turned up for the quiz competition and that he recalled how he came first in the first JETS competition in Ondo State as a student. Recounting the memory lane, Otunba urged all the students to toe the right part in their educational pursuits.
This special event was held at 1828 hotels and Suites where the hall was glamorously decorated by a seasoned interior decorator in ondo state, Bronic Event Deco. The hall was glaced in dazzling white with touch of gold and with modern flower verses. The director of Bronic commended her staff for the job well done in making the environment and the hall worthwhile and pleasurable for guests.
Those in attendance were friends of the family, well wishers and the children of Late Chief Mrs Stella Olufunke Simbiat Adeyeye.
