Falayes investment produces another Owo students who won big at FSMO 2026 as AUD, Greatprint shines

Owo, Ondo State | July 11, 2026  

The 2026 (third) edition of the Falaye Science and Mathematics Olympiad (FSMO) Award and Prize Giving Day was held on Saturday at Owo High School ICT Centre, honouring top-performing secondary school students in Owo LGA.

The event which showcased the Promotion of Academic Excellence and Innovation, drew education leaders, political leaders, religious heads, parents and students to celebrate the winners of the Olympiad. Present to present trophies, medals and shields to the winners were the sponsors, Dr. Foluso Bamidele Falaye and Mrs. Akinola, nee Falaye. 

Highlights of the event include, addresses, video and slides show, presentation of cash prizes, trophies, medals and other awards to deserving winners and schools. 

In the words of the FSMO visioner, Dr. Foluso Falaye, he maintained his position of putting Owo in the global map of excellence. He challenged the contestants to always dream big and be focused in life. He encouraged the winners not to relax while stimulating those who did not get to the final to brace up for future academic challenges to be able to share good stories. 

In his address, Hon. (Alhaji) Saheed Aminu as the occasion's chairman, praised FSMO as a strategic investment to produce future scientists, engineers and leaders. He urged students to pursue discipline and excellence.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, FSMO Anchor and pilot, shared the Olympiad’s origin in 2024, saying it was created to identify talents and revive interest in STEM. He called for partnerships to expand it beyond Owo.

While announcing the winners and runners up, he described the contestants as dedicated, focused and committed students whose performances are indication of scientific greatness which will transcend to lift up Owo kingdom. 

As for Engr. Kayode Ijalana, Owo-born Cloud Engineer based in the US, who was a special guest at the occasion, challenged students to embrace technology and see Science and Maths as tools for solving societal problems. He emphasized that Mathematics is a subject that is critical to other science-based courses and the need for the students to be more engaged in critical thinking and problem solving so as to be highly resourceful to themselves and the society in the future. 

Goodwill messages also came from the Aruwajin of Ijebu land, High Chief Aladenusi, the Rev. Canon Omileyinju who represented the Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Fagbemi, the Lord Bishop of Owo Diocese, the Chief Imam of Owo Kingdom, Sheikh Yunus Anola, Mr. Kayode Ojo, the Tutor-General’s representative, and the ANCOPSS Owo Chairman, Mr. Toluwalase Fasawe. 

Some of the notable award Winners include:

- 1st: Festus-Komolafe Favour, AUD Grammar School who got ₦200,000 plus Trophy and Medal. It would be recalled that AUD has won the contest twice and led in JAMB in the local government area twice. 

- 2nd: Julius Oluwadarasimi, Greatprint School who got ₦150,000 plus Trophy and Medal. He also won the star contestant award for being the best overall based on his leading performances in three consecutive stages of the competition before the last-final stage. 

- 3rd: Adenegan Eriayomi, Greatprint School who also received ₦100,000 plus Trophy and Medal. 

Other finalists include Ijalana Esther of Leadership Academy who got ₦50,000.cash rewards while Akinbolure Daniel, Daniel Harrison both from Owo High School and Afolabi Jesupemisire of Dominion Science school received consolation cash awards of ₦25000 each. Deserving FSMO Teachers and schools were also recognised while participants were given certificates of participation.

Stakeholders urged more support to grow FSMO into a state and national competition, reaffirming that education is key to Nigeria’s development.
