The funeral of Pa Ayodele Ambrose Oke, who passed away at the age of 91 on February 14, which was a Valentine's day, was a solemn and dignified event that honored his life and legacy. The funeral service took place on March 1st at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Ayeyemi, Ondo. Prior to the burial, a remarkable christian wake keep service was held at his Ayeyemi residence in Abayomi street, where family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to pay their respects and celebrate his life.
Pa Ayodele Ambrose Oke, a respected Ondo indigene, was finally laid to rest at St. Leo's cemetery to join the saints triumphant as he marched home like a valiant soldier who has seen, fought and conquered. After the committal, a grand funeral reception was held at the popular OFM (Osebosola Fajemirokun Memorial) Hall opposite FFF junction in Oka, Ondo. Earlier, the corpse was moved from MMM morgue to the deceased house at Ayeyemi for the last respect before his last journey home.
Tributes from his children, Mr. Felix Sunday popularly called JP, Mrs. Morenikeji Akinlose, a London based registered nurse who is married to an England based IT consultant, Akinloose of Deliberty Global Company, and Olamibosede Faleye, the wife of Mr. Timilehin Faleye. Others who threw in their tributes which were remarkably read by the MC were, Mr. Clement Oke (England), Mrs. Titi Oke (London), Mr. Michael Oke (London) who is the younger brother of the deceased, Mrs. Beatrice Ayorinde, the proprietress of the popular Holy Trinity group of schools. In a live telecast, Mr. and Mrs. Akinloose also virtually addressed the guests who were treated to assorted meals and drinks.
The tributes session was just a great moment of reflections of the lifetime of Pa Oke. Very touching memories were read out by MC Winrinwinrin. Morenikeji and Bosede took turns to openly appreciate Mama Ayorinde, their dad's younger sister who had been there for them and the woman who adopted them even when their mother left the matrimonial scene. "My father was very unlucky with women, no wonder he died on Valentine's Day because my mother left me and my sister when we were respectively 2 yrs and 8 months causing him to become a daycare father and nanny", Morenikeji posited.
