St. Louis emerges victorious in Stella Adeyeye interschool quiz competition 2nd edition
On Thursday, January 19th, 2024, the 1828 Hotel & Suites in Ondo City was abuzz with excitement as the second edition of the interschool quiz competition organized by the children of Ch. Mrs. Stella Simbiat Adeyeye took place. The event brought together some of the brightest young minds from various schools, and after a day filled with intense competition, St. Louis Girls Grammar School Ondo emerged as the champions.
The interschool quiz competition, organized by the Adeyeyes, aimed to promote academic excellence and intellectual development among students from different schools in Ondo City. The event provided a platform for students to showcase their knowledge across various subjects and compete in a friendly yet challenging environment.
Several schools participated in the competition, including St. Louis Girls Grammar School Ondo, St. Monica’s Girls Grammar School, St. Joseph College, Ondo Boys High School, Christ the Redeemer College, and Hallmark Secondary School, among others.at the final stage having defeated other schools at the preliminary stages. Each school brought a team of bright and talented students who were eager to demonstrate their academic prowess. The final was based on individual basis with respect to their earlier performances. The vibrant students who represented their school s were Daramola Abraham (Hallmark), Adeyeye Progress Jesunifemi (Monica), Nwigwe Marvellous (Hallmark), Akinladejo Tejumoluwa (St Louis), Oriowo Tolulope (OBHS) Udwe Moses (Christ Redeemer), Ellias Emmanuel Okoroafor (St. Joseph).
After several rounds of rigorous quizzing, St. Louis Girls Grammar School Ondo emerged as the overall winners of the competition, showcasing their exceptional knowledge and quick thinking. Following closely behind was St. Monica’s School, which secured the second position with an impressive performance. Hallmark Secondary School also put up a commendable display of intellect and secured the third position in the competition.
The interschool quiz competition not only provided a platform for healthy competition but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie among the participating schools. It served as an opportunity for students to learn from each other and gain valuable experience in competitive academic settings.
The Patriarch of the family, Hon. Dr. (Farmer) Jibayo Adeyeye, the owner of the world class tourist centre, Nibanola in Ondo State, expressed his delight at the success of the event and commended all the participating schools for their remarkable, enviable and outstanding performances. He emphasized the importance of such competitions in nurturing young talents and fostering a culture of academic excellence.
The second edition of Ch. Mrs. Stella Adeyeye’s interschool quiz competition was indeed a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all those who participated and attended. The first position got a complete set of computer system with a cash of N100,0000 which was presented by Pharm. Kunle Adeyeye. while the second and third positions respectively went with N120,000 and N50,000 cash able presented by Otunba Mrs. Bola Adeyeye and Mr. Philips Bowen from the United States. All the participants got their JAMB Forms paid by the family as they also went home with individual cash prizes as well as their teachers.
It would be recalled that the first edition which was equally held at same venue in 2023 had Hallmark secondary school singing victorious songs out of the hall on that day and the same Hallmark had come third in this second edition. Earlier in his address, Otunba Bola Adeyeye who played host to other members of the family at his popular luxurious 1828 hotel in town, welcomed participants to the program and expressed his heartfelt satisfaction on the performance of the participants who have reached the final stage. He further expressed the family's commitment to educational development in the state and in particular, Ondo city.
Dr. Mrs. Bridget Itunu Awosika, an erudite scholar and the Dean, school of vocational and technical education in Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo anchored the quiz competition as he was assisted by Mr. Frank Akintimehin, a versatile secondary school teacher and Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, whose AGES covered the event in a telecast on his YMC YouTube, being an educational event.
The event was well attended by well meaning Nigerians and a friend of the family, Engr Philips from Manchester United States. Those present included Pastor Tomisin, the General Overseer of Doulous Ministry, the Akinfolarins in Ondo kingdom, the other siblings of Hon. Dr. Farmer Jibayo Adeyeye - Pharmacist Kunle Adeyeye, Dr. Deji Adeyeye, Engr. Ibidapo Adeyeye, and their amiable wives.
Meanwhile, to cap up the activities for the annual remembrance program, a football competition was also held at the city stadium in which St. Joseph College defeated Saint Andrews secondary school at the final stage winning the sum of 250,000 naira with Jerseys and other accessories and the runner up going with 150,000 naira.
