Your best is desired to actualize the dream of a new Nigeria - Akponorie

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR

Since the inception of a new administration in Nigeria leadership, it is the yearnings and aspirations of both old and young to see the emergence of a new Nigeria. This was also expressed at the Ondo Diocese ordination service as Akponorie declared, "Your best is desired to actualize the dream of a new Nigeria".

This sincere expression was made by Akponorie, a cleric of the Anglican Diocese of Ondo and a lecturer at the Archbishop Vining College of Technology (AVCT), Akure while delivering a sermon during the Diocesan ordination service.

The Diocese of Ondo Anglican Communion just held the 2023 edition of the trinity ordination which was presided over by His Lordship, Rt. Revd.  Stephen Adeniran Oni, PhD, MCasson. In a service which was held at the Cathedral Church of St Stephen Oke Aluko, Ondo on the 26th day of June, 2023.

Meanwhile, in the sermon of the preacher, Akponorie, titled "give your best to your master" which was taken from Luke 16: 1-12, he quoted the statement credited to the new Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), "I see my election as a sacred assignment". Akponorie stated that this statement is another level of commitment from a leader who has mandate to fulfill and is accountable to his people.

Speaking further in his message, Ven. Dr. Akponorie charged all Nigerians, and members of the Anglican Communion in attendance at the ordination service to give their best in all they do to make Nigeria great again. In his words, "all God needs from us is our all, even in our civic responsibilities. This is the new Nigeria we all dream of " The preacher charged all and sundry to give in their best to see the emergence of a new Nigeria which we all dream of. He used the biblical story of the servant-master relationship in the context of his sermon to drive home his points.

While admonishing the newly ordered Deacons and ordained priests, he charged  them to see ministry as what is a two-way traffic. "In ministry, you will find enjoyment, connection, blessings, and the other side which I will not mention but you will experience them on the field of ministry", Akponorie concluded.

In the service which was a eucharist, the Rt. Hon. Justice Obayemi Taiwo Taiwo read the epistle after the Dean of the Cathedral church of St. Stephen Ondo, Ven. Dr. Solomon Adeleye read the old testament while the Rev. Adisa took the gospel reading.

Remarkably, the Diocesan Bishop, ordained the priests and ordered the deacons in turn. These are the Revds Ayooluwa Adisa, Babawale Oyerinde, Oyetunde Oyetola, Odubowale Odubekun, Olawuyi Oyediji and Olumide Oluwasimide. Others are Ords Oluyonka Akanni, Samuel Afe, Oluwabusayo Adeola, Oluwatosin Adekunle, Ayotunde Ogunleye, and Oriyomi Awolalu.

During the prayer time, the Diocesan took time to pray for Nigeria. He prophesied about New Nigeria and urged the congratulation to be hopeful in God. "Those who are behind the ordeals of Nigeria will definitely be judged by God. It's just a matter of time", Oni authoritatively declared.

The service was well attended by Diocesan officials, church chiefs, dignitaries, family friends and well wishers of the newly ordained priests. The Ven. Dr. Moses Adebolu Adetunbi JP Dean of Archbishop Vining College of Technology, Mr. Ebenezer Olugenga Ogunrinde, the College treasurer and other dignitaries from AVCT Akure also graced the occasion.
