Ondo Diocese celebrates 2022 diocesan harvest as Bishop recounts harvest bounties
There is time for everything under the sun says the holy scriptures. Time for planting and time to reap! It was a time of celebration as all members of the Ondo Anglican Diocese were gathered at the Cathedral church of St. Stephens Ondo, Oke Aluko to appreciate God for the year 2022 Diocesan harvest, a service which was presided over by the Rt. Rev'd Dr. Stephen Adeniran Oni, the Lord Bishop of the Diocese.
Speaking during the sermon, the Ven. Dr. Johnson Sunday Ojewumi, the Archdeacon of Ondo West Archdeaconry, urged members to appreciate God immensely. In his sermon tagged around the Diocesan theme for the year, "My year of exceeding greatness" Ojewumi tasked members to plant viable seeds worthy of remarkable harvest. "Whatever you sow is what you reap", Ojewumi proclaimed!
"He who sows reaps, what we sow is what we reap to get harvest of exceeding greatness. The heart with which you bring to God matters. The power of God makes you to harvest in abundance and this you must know", Ojewumi concluded.
Addressing the jubilant crowd at the service during a powerful prayer session led by the Diocesan, Bishop Oni remarked that the year's harvest is for praises to God Almighty. Recounting the harvest bounties for the year, Oni said that the central theme of the Diocese, "My year of exceeding greatness" has been working for the Diocese tremendously.
"This year has been very remarkable with testimonies for the Diocese. The donation of OFM hall which started full operation this year has brought advent of other good things. The Diocese has acquired new building at UNIMED/Mother and Child area, got a massive farm plantation of about 200 acres, gift of camp ground of 20 acres, donation of 40 complete computer sets with complete internet accessories (for a completely furnished computer room/CBT centre, all through NCC) and a gift of jeep for the Bishop, an unexpected end of the year surprise", recounted the Bishop.
Speaking on the bountiful harvests of God's goodness to the Diocese, Oni said it is the Lord's doing and nothing else. "Surely, the Lord has been good to the Diocese and we cannot deny that fact. Let everyone flows with the move of God and never attempt to stand in the way of God in the Diocese", the exciting Bishop affirmed!
Meanwhile, shortly after the harvest celebration, conducting the dignitaries round the newly acquired acres of farm plantation, the Lord Bishop of Ondo Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev'd Dr. Stephen Adeniran Oni disclosed that with the farm acquisition, the Diocese will in stages work on the oil palm plantation, citrus farm, fishery, piggery, and birds rearing to make the farm a world standard for agriculturists in the nation and beyond. "This will create jobs for our youths and serve as centre for entrepreneurship to drive the economy of the Diocese", Oni remarked. In company of the Bishop were the dignitaries led by the Cathedral Dean, Ven. Olumuyiwa Adeleye, the Diocesan treasurer, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, Diocesan surveyor, Mr. Paul Adewole, and host of others.
Earlier, concluding the harvest celebration, the Dean of the Cathedral, Ven. Adeleye invited all the Archdeaconries in turns for the annual harvest thanksgiving after the fire-brand prayers led by the Bishop.
Present at the event were the President of the Women Organizations and the wife of the Bishop, Mrs. Blessing Oyewola Oni who led other priests wives, cathedral church chiefs, other church chiefs, clergymen in the Diocese and many Archdeaconry officials.
