Pen down: Temidayo retires, advised to enjoy life and godliness
There is time for everything, says the Holy Book! It was like yesterday that Mr. Festus Akinlolu Temidayo, an Ondo-born teacher and school administrator, joined the Teaching Service Commission and rose to the position of Principal till retirement at the Jubilee Grammar School, Ondo.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service held at the Church of Messiah Anglican Communion, Ondo, the Revd. Ofelolorunfunmi, Priest in charge of the Victoria Chapel Fagun, Ondo, admonished the celebrant, who equally clocked 60 the same day, to enjoy the rest of his life in good health and godliness. Revd. Ofelolorunfunmi congratulated Mr. Festus Temidayo for attaining 60 years and also the retirement age. "Some were never privileged to end it like this while others were disengaged by death, but you have it through the grace of God, hence the need for you to spend the rest of your life for God and humanity", Ofelolorunfunmi remarked.
Furthermore, Ofelolorunfunmi urged other guests and the congregation to remember days like this to leave good legacies behind. "I know Mr. Temidayo as a rugged, hardworking and straight forward man who is ever diligent in his dealings" were the words of the preacher while extolling the virtues of the retiring Principal.
While expressing his heartfelt gratitude to God at the reception hall held in his honour by his members of staff at Jubilee Grammar School, Temidayo who could not hide his joy, appreciated God, his family, friends and well wishers for standing by him in the course of discharging his duties and official responsibilities.
Granting audience to AGES correspondent, Princess Adebola Osungbemiro, a Princess in Osemawe dynasty and a wife to an erudite scholar, real estate manager and business tycoon, Dr. Nelson Osungbemiro, remarked with excitement, that Mr. Temidayo is a wonderful father, a trustworthy principal worthy of emulation. "Mr Temidayo is a free man, trustworthy and transparent leader, I want everyone to emulate him", concluded Princess Osungbemiro.
In his own words, Prince Ola Ilesanmi, a staunch member of the Ondo Anglican Diocese, said Mr. Temidayo is a member of his club, LAD MARK, an Ondo-based society with reputable men. He advised those in the service today to know that the weather is not smiling, hence others should be prepared for time like this. "A little drop of water makes a mighty ocean and education is a legacy, hence educate your families, children and the like so that we have a better society", Prince Ilesanmi added.
While feeding questions from AGES, the wife of the celebrant, Mrs. Solape Temidayo, said she is extremely happy to witness her husband's 60th birthday and pen down. Speaking from the backdrop of others who have suffered casualty in the course of their services to the government, but for the fact that her husband is alive is worth celebrating. She then advised others in active service today to put God first in their service so as to get the best from God at the end.
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of other children, his second son, Master Ayodeji Temidayo lauded his father's role in their lives. He expressed happiness in the way his father use to discipline children. "My father is not wicked. He is a disciplinarian! He hardly smiles by nature when you see his face, but many think afar off that he will be extremely strict and difficult. However, you need to be closer to know that he is a loving father", Ayodeji added.
Also, Mr. Bamidele Fredrick Akin, the Vice Principal of Jubilee Grammar School had this to say, "Mr. Temidayo's tenure of office was very peaceful, eventful and remarkable. I will like to advise other members of staff in active service to play their roles, leave indelible marks, and emulate Mr. Temidayo, as though no man is perfect ".
Meanwhile the students were not exempted. Eniola Niyi George, a Jubilee student, appreciated Mr. Temidayo, whose tenure of office enlisted him as one of the school scholarship beneficiaries. He then advised other teachers to emulate Mr. Temidayo. In her own words, Omoyeni Kemisola, a JSS 2 student of Jubilee remarked, "our retired principal is a disciplinarian and I will want other teachers to emulate him because he is a good man".
The event was attended by well-meaning Ondo indigenes, teachers, school administrators, clerics and the like. Among whom were Mr. Festus Ade Bada, former Diocesan treasurer of Ondo Diocese, Prince Ola Ilesanmi, an investment broker and a seasoned sport analyst, The Akingbemisilu's family, Mr. Alex Akintunde, a school principal in Ondo. Others were Ven. Daniel Ope Akintemi, Revd. Olaoluwa Adewumi, Priest in charge of Messiah Anglican Church Ondo, Mr. Vincent Akinrinola, a retired school teacher, Pa James Omotoye, a retired school Principal, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, the Executive Secretary of AGES, among others.
Mr. Temidayo was given a remarkable farewell by his staff and students at Jubilee Community Grammar School, Ondo having been celebrated at his home church at the Messiah Anglican church where he was also prayer for by the clerics.
