CMF Inauguration: We have had so many empty promises from Nigerian leaders, Speaker blows hot
It's not a strange thing to get fascinating, interesting and fantastic promises from many Nigerian politicians during campaigns and community meetings. Most especially that the 2023 general election draws nearer, various party flag bearers are also now busy compiling feasible and sugar-coated promises for coming campaigns to greatly appeal to the listening ears of their campaign mammoth crowd and political gladiators.
On this backdrops, a speaker and preacher, Ven. Dr. Johnson Ojewumi, at the inauguration of the Christian Men Fellowship (CMF) of the Church of the Messiah Anglican Communion Sabo, Ondo, held on 31st July 2022, has asserted that Nigerian leaders have made a lot of empty promises to the electorates without keeping their words.
While addressing the men of the church, Dr. Ojewumi who doubles as a Lecturer and the Archdeacon of Ondo-West Archdeaconry in Ondo Diocese, expressed heartfelt concerns that most of our leaders in the nation today who fail to stand by their words after being elected into political offices are men. He urged men to wake up to their responsibilities and prove that they are God's vessels unto honour to glorify His name in our nation.
"You are foolish when you do not keep the word of God. The church is not having problem of hearing God's word today but the problem is doing the word of God through obedience", said Ojewumi. "The pulpit has more than enough to offer the church and the world today but the church and the world are finding it almost extremely difficult to do the word from same pulpit", added Ojewumi.
The epic of the event was the serious commitment made by the men at the church altar denouncing any form of secret society and taking oath of allegiance to God, to the real men they are created for, serviceable to God, their families and mankind, and take position of leadership and responsibilities in the nation.
Meanwhile, the men of the church were led by Mr. Vincent Akinrinola to the altar where Ven Johnson Ojewumi presided and was ably assisted by Revd Samuel Olaoluwa Adewumi.
Present at the ceremony, among others, were Mr. James Omotoye, former Principal (Ondo Boys High School Ondo), Mr. Olufemi Akinsanmi, a deputy Director at the Ondo State Ministry of Works and Urban Planning, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, a former Director in the Management Information Systems Directorate of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo.
