Rotarian President Okoroafor, Abudu, Olatunji, others bag Global Focus awards

In another special edition of the presentation of the tenth volume of the Focus Magazine, notable Nigerians have been given various icon awards. These include Rot. Elizabeth Okoroafor, Mr. Abudu Olumide, Pastor Israel Olatunji. Others are Hon. Yemi Adedapo, Apostle John Tosin and Dr. Alex Omojowo, JP. The event was held on Thursday July 28, 2022 at the NUJ press hall, Akure.

Okoroafor, the immediate past President of the Rotary Club of Ondo-Adeyemi College was awarded icon of education based on her achievement in the education industry and at rotary level. Elizabeth Okoroafor, an Imo-born educationist has distinguished herself with her passionate vision for the less privileged and special students. During her tenure of office as Rotary president, much has been done to impact special students on campus and has always been identifying with their needs. 


Okoroafor was honoured at the event by the heavy presence of her numerous guests and distinguished Rotarians from RC Ondo-Adeyemi College. The delegation was led by Rot. Dr. Justina Ogboru, the first female Dean, Students Affairs at Adeyemi College of Education Ondo. Others are Rot. Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, Rot. Olaitan Abiola, the club treasurer, Rot. Oluseto Olatuyi, the College Director of information and public relations, Rot. Idowu Emmanuel and Mr. Amos, an intending Rotarian.

In succession, other awardees were honoured, decorated with medals and awarded plaques. Mr. Abudu Olumide, a seasoned and distinguished journalist was awarded icon of journalism. Abudu has distinguished himself in field of journalism and has added many feathers to his cap through many awards owing to his diligence, enthusiasm and intelligence. Abudu Olumide, an Owo-born graduate of Ekiti State University, is currently a news and current affairs controller at Positive FM, Akure. On receiving his award, he was flanked  by his beautiful, loving and charming wife, Oluwatoyin and his associates.


Others honoured with the global focus awards were Pastor Israel Olatunji, the Principal of St. Stephens Anglican Grammar School Ondo and a provincial coordinator of RCCG Ondo province 2, Apostle John Tosin, Dr. Alex Omojowo, and Hon. Yemi Adedapo.



Meanwhile, while delivering his talk on the title "potentials for greater heights, Apostle Boboye said
"there are places you can get to in life with your potentials and without them, you may not attain such. Everyone needs to  discover his or her potentials to reach desired height". 

In his reaction, Otunba Barr. Aladetoyinbo, the chairman of the occasion, remarked,  "what do I enjoy doing even without being paid...there are potentials however not discovered until necessity is placed on them". "To leave raw talents is like leaving untapped gold, the chairman further retorted! Aladetoyinbo, a lawyer, politician and a public analyst, categorically said he is interested in journalism and publicity. "That raw talents can take you out of your profession to lands of destiny that can take you to zenith of success", added Aladetoyinbo. He urged the audience to harness their potentials to make Nigeria great once again.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola Olateju, the former Ondo State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora, now Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Orientation, urged good people of Ondo State not to hoard reasonable information that can expose unscrupulous elements in our society. She further stressed, using the Yoruba indigenous language, the need for good people of Ondo State to be security conscious in this difficult time in our country.
