Owo born erudite scholar dedicates received award to massacred victims

The Owo born Mathematician and ICT guru, Dr. Kehinde Emmanuel Adenegan, has been honoured with a meritorious award by the Division of Students' Affairs Adeyemi College of Education Ondo on Tuesday June 7, 2022. The event which took place at the Babatunde Ipaye lecture theater in the College marked an annual orientation week for new students. 


Speaking at the event, the Dean of the Division of Students'Affairs, Dr. Justina Ogboru remarked the absence of Dr. Adenegan who could not be physically present to receive the award due to the sad incidence of the massacre that happened in the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo where 40 people lost their lives and 77 others sustained varied degrees of injuries on Sunday June 5, 2022.


Adenegan had earlier engaged Engr. Opeyemi Adeniyi, the Acting Director of the College Management Information Systems to represent him at the event as he has chosen to honour those who lost their lives in the dastardly act and share in the pains and grieves of their families and the ancient town. "I hereby dedicate the award given to those whose lives were lost in the sad occurrence" painfully retorted Adenegan.

Adenegan Kehinde, an Owo-born PhD and First Class holder in Mathematics Education, lectures at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. He was the Immediate past MIS/ICT Director of the College. He's an Oundles School Peterborough Autograph Certified Trainer; has published over 46 reputable articles and chapter contributions. He has served as facilitators at different trainings for NIEPA, COEASU, NOUN, MU/WG and lots more.

His research interests are Financial Mathematics and Mathematics Education- Ethno-mathematics, Yoruba Indigenous Mathematics, Mathematics Drama, and Early Child Numeracy. He has a special flair for ICT related activities and blended learning. He has participated in the training of many staff, students, administrators, and religious bodies on the use of ICT. He has developed web-related activities to solve some organization problems, introduced creative online and offline dynamics in teaching (ADEMMAK Arithmetic Game), and deeply involved in blogging, web-articles writing and online paper reviews and plagiarism checks for journal and book publications. Being a financial mathematician, Adenegan enjoys serving God in various capacities as he is at present serving as Treasurer for Ondo West Archdeaconry, Ondo Diocese and Ondo Province of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion comprising Ondo and Ekiti Dioceses, having served previously as Treasurer for COEASU and the Department of Mathematics, ACE, Ondo.

While in office, Adenegan has positively influenced students positively and has initiated, as well as worked on web-related activities to improve students academic activities. These include e-voting, e-administration, use of downloaded tutorial list (DTL) for examination attendance, ease of use of portal, e-learning, e-teaching, zoom cloud meetings and lots more.


The event was attended by the College Management including the College Principal officers, led by the College amiable and dynamic Provost, Dr. Samuel Akinrinola Akintunde.

Other dignitaries awarded at the event include Dr. Mrs. M. Y. Falana of the Home Economics Department, and Dr. Anthony Oladayo Bernard of the Department of English, who was awarded the outstanding Head of Department in the College.
