Father's Day; Fathers demand creation of Ministry of Men Affairs
Days are days but each day differs from each other by the virtues of its events and history. On Sunday 19th June, 2022, fathers globally celebrated father's day just like the mother's folk much earlier celebrated in mid-April.
The story is not different at the Church of Messiah Anglican Communion Sabo Ondo where the men who are fathers came together in unity of purpose, beautifully and adorably dressed in good attires, to celebrate the father's day.
"If the government of Nigeria at both state and federal levels could establish ministry of women's affairs to cater for mothers' needs, then nothing stops the government to also establish the ministry of men as well" remarked Dr. Kehinde Adenegan while leading the intercessory prayers. Adenegan, the Ondo West Archdeaconry president of the Christian Men Fellowship (CMF), argued that men and fathers have been seriously involved in the good and bad state of our dear nation today and the need for a formidable ministry for men and fathers to operate well to restructure the country in the right path. Kehinde led the fathers to pray for fathers nationwide and the nation Nigeria to receive the mercy of God at this trying time.
Meanwhile, in his words during the sermon, Mr. Idowu Olatunji preached on the fruit bearing fathers. He encouraged fathers to take their positions and act honourably in the society to command the respect of their children in order to equally receive God's attention and blessings to lead good lives.
The event was spiced up with musicals from the church choristers and one of the future fathers, a twelve year old boy, Confidence Opemipo Adenegan, who interestingly took the psalms reading taken from Psalms 95:1-7. The women also joined their husbands in the celebration by giving gifts to the men. Among whom were Mrs. Felicia Ayorinde, Mrs. Josephine Omoyemi Adenegan, Mrs. Solape Temidayo, Mrs. Adewumi, the Priest wife and host of other well meaning women of substance who sang to cheer their darling husbands and fathers of their children and also presented them gifts.
Equally, the fathers in the Church of Messiah Anglican Communion were led to the altar for a general thanksgiving by Mr. Vincent Akinrinola, the branch president of the church CMF where a donation was made for a befiting church billboard. The Revd Olaoluwa Samuel Adewumi, the Priest in charge of the church took time to pray for the fathers, the Bishop, the church and the nation.
Interestingly, the story is the same in most churches AGES gathered information from. It was celebration galore as fathers trooped out in their numbers to celebrate the day in various churches. Besides, some fathers were seen in the city eateries and crunches, captain cook, Mr. Biggs, and chicken republic with their wives and families to put smiles on their faces in commemoration of the day.
However, the story is not all the same in the ancient town of Owo sequel to the massacre that occured at the St. Francis Catholic Church. Most services were devoid of the usual fun fare and were brief in order not to keep the worshippers for too long in the service
