"There is no better way to ensure our response to the call for sustainable development is truly meaningful than to involve the people will aim to serve... Otherwise, we shall have volumes and volumes of knowledge some on our shelves and others on the internet without any consumer. Through our community service and outreach programs, we can promote knowledge and technology transfer thereby contributing towards the realisation of sustainable development", Izuagie remarked.

He encouraged delegates to participate positively and constructively in plenary discussions in order to generate recommendations that will evolve into policy guidelines for the government to encourage Nigeria's economic growth.

"On a more philosophical note, one needs to devise strategies for survival in any environment one finds himself or herself to ensure one gets to the top, Mr. Abimbola Oladapo, the chairman retorted. While addressing the guests and participants at the event, Oladapo highlighted some facts which he want the conference to meditate upon and also imbibe so that they can get to the top. Among the highlights are: "the less you are associated with some people, the more your life will improve; anytime you tolerate mediocrity in others, it increases your mediocrity; friends that do not help you climb, will want you to crawl; never receive counsel from unproductive people and so on. Mr. Oladapo concluded with the word of J.F. KENNEDY, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" and let us all do our best to lift up our country Nigeria!

The keynote address presenter, Prof. Joseph Adegboyega spoke extensively on the conference theme. He said, the role of science education in driving economic growth and sustainability cannot be overemphasized. "For Nigeria to join the league of developed Nations, she must actively invest in science education. There is a need for the curricula to address issues that are typical to the environment, culture, and then integrate science concepts into the teaching methods so that it will be meaningful to the child", Adegboyega recommended.

In his conclusion, he identified factors of economic growth which can help the nation Nigeria and fashioned ways forward for technological sustainability. "Some middle-income countries such as Nigeria have money to create pockets of science and technology capacity that at least partially serve their economy and social  insurance, however they appear to have been some deficits of science and technology capacity", Osungbemiro narrated.
