Federal Commissioner celebrates 35 years of conjugal bliss
Love is a beautiful feeling and a world of bliss especially with the right spouse. This is it for Chief Lawrence Olufemi Omasanya, an honourable Federal Commissioner in the FCT, and his lovely wife, Mrs Caroline Mopelola Omasanya who celebrated God's faithfulness in their lives for the past thirty five years of being locked up in conjugal bliss.
Chief Lawrence Olufemi Omasanya, a native of owo and Christian faithful, is the Honorable Commissioner representing Ondo State at the Federal Character Commission Abuja. Omosanya, a one time Owo Local Government Area Education secretary and political stalwart in PDP and now a big fish in the APC pond, celebrated in a grand style with family and friends. The event was held at St. Patrick's Anglican church Ijebu Owo on Sunday 28th August, 2022.
In his sermon titled "we are Christ ambassadors", the Vicar of St. Paul's Anglican Church Ifon and Archdeacon of Ifon Archdeaconry, the Ven. Bunmi Aladegbami, congratulated the couple on the journey so far. The preacher, who happened to be a long time friend of the celebrant, reiterated how Chief Omasanya had been very instrumental in his marriage twenty five years ago, and therefore appreciated him for what he has done for him in the time past.
Speaking further on his sermon text, 2 Cor. 5:20, Ven. Aladegbami defined an ambassador as a person who represents a country in a far away land, or a diplomat. He admonished the congregation to be representatives of God in the world as that is the kingdom business of believers. " You must not be lukewarm as believers but rather showcase Christ to the world", he maintained.
He further added that, Christians should not be stagnant but rather keep moving to proclaim Christ to the world which is the kingdom business that must be fulfilled. He emphasised on few points on how to proclaim Christ which are: having the knowledge of Christ, good Wisdom of the lord, possessing an attractive character. "If you are knowledgeable with great ability but does not have character, you should not be considered for anything", posited the preacher. He added, "having a good character is very important".
Earlier in his sermon, Aladegbami lauded Chief Omasanya as a man who has lived an exemplary live, a disciplined family man both in academics and profession, and a lover of Christ who has contributed immensely to Church growth and development. Chief Omasanya's marriage, according to the preacher, has only been successful due to the grace of God, faithfulness of both spouse, forgiveness in Christ, commitment to glorify God and progressive sanctification. "Marriage without forgiveness is vanity", Aladegbami exclaimed!
Singing from the yoruba IOM Hymn 390 - Give yourself to God, Aladegbami noted, "when you dedicate your life to God, He takes charge, modifies it and everything concerning you works beyond your imagination".
Meanwhile, in his address while felicitating with the celebrants, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Ayedatiwa, opined that, Owo people and its environs should not be afraid, as strong security systems are in place to counter the menace of insecurity in the community and the state. He enjoined churches to pray for the government to succeed in actualizing desired goals for the state.
Reacting to his guests' gesture at the service, Chief Omasanya was so delighted to appreciate the dignitaries present and members of the host church, especially the Vicar who was on leave but had to come around to grace the occasion.
The service, which was a combination of Holy Communion, wedding anniversary thanksgiving and installation of new officers for the third Owo company of the boys brigade, was conducted by the Vicar of the Church, Ven. David Akinyemi. New Captain, Mr. Egona Ayotemitope Emmanuel was installed for the Boys Brigade of Nigeria third Owo Company.
In the same vein, enrollment and presentation of awards were held during the service. The service was eventful with overwhelming thanksgiving to God Almighty. While cutting the anniversary cake, Ch.
