Rotary holds night of culture: RC Ondo-Adeyemi College, others bag awards

In what was described as an historic and amazing event, the District 9125 of the Rotary International comprising Abuja Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Edo, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Edo and few other states, hosted a programme tagged "night of culture and awards celebration" to mark the end of the Rotary year 2021/2022.

At the event, held at Kakanfo Conference centre Ibadan, the district Governor, Rot. Ayo Oyedokun, welcomed all attendees and congratulated all Rotarians in the district for making the year remarkable.


Awards were given to well deserved clubs, presidents and individuals. The rotary club of Ondo-Adeyemi College received award for membership doubling within the rotary year, an award which was received by the outgoing President, Rotarian Elizabeth Okoroafor - Enwerem, popularly known as Rotarian Lizzy.


In the same vein, the Rotary club of Akure Prestige was given an award for good performance in the rotary year. Meanwhile, the Rotary club of Abuja Metro bagged the award of the best club of the year.




Among other awards recipients are Rot. Ngozi Okrika, who was awarded the best serving President of the year. More significantly, Rot. James Ugbeda,.the district secretary, was awarded the best rotarian of the year. Rotarians Batife, Femi Adegoke, among others, were not also left out in the honours list of the award recipients.

In his words, the District Governor, Oyedokun, acknowledged the good works of the rotary founding fathers and past leaders who have served in the district. This necessitated the award given to PDG Joshua Hassan for being the most supportive past district Governor.


According to the President of Ondo-Adeyemi College rotary club, "I dedicate the award received to all.my loving and supportive members for the landmark". She was so excited and looked forward to handing over to another dynamic president come next rotary year. The Rotary clubs in Ondo were uniquely dressed in adorable Ankara while other clubs were in various fashions in vogue.






The epoch event was well attended by well meaning Rotarians accross the district among whom were Rot. Samuel Akintunde, the Provost of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, Rot. Adigun, the Ondo State Surveyor General who has just been exhorted to the position of a Permanent secretary in Ondo state government, Rot. Kelvin Meyeyin, Rot. Atunramu, Rot. Obadua, Prof. Adegbenro, Rot. Kehinde Adenegan, the executive secretary of AGES, and host of others.
